Our corporate and fleet driver training courses will help companies to reduce costs, reduce risks, to help comply with Health and Safety regulations and increase employees’ skills. Our training aim to:
  • Enhance recognition and response to road hazards.
  • Develop risk management to reduce stress and improve personal and public safety.
  • Encourage a driving style that reduces fuel consumption and vehicle wear and tear.
  • Highlight health and safety implications when driving on company business
Road traffic crashes and incidents are seldom random events; they generally arise from some failure of control and may involve other contributory elements. The immediate cause may be human or mechanical failure but they usually arise from organisational failings, which are responsibility of management. There are considerable advantages to adopting a comprehensive driver assessment and training policy. By adopting a structured approach to training and driver development your company can reduce the direct and indirect costs of running your fleet.

Direct costs reductions include:
  • Increased fuel efficiency = lower fuel costs.
  • Lower insurance premiums.
  • Reduce vehicle wear and tear.
  • Lower maintenance costs
  • Have fewer vehicles off the road.
Indirect costs reductions include:
  • Lower work related stress and ill health.
  • Fewer lost working days.
With our help you can implement a policy of improving the standard of driving of your fleet drivers, adopt eco-driving techniques, and save your company from unnecessary expense.

The Purpose of Corporate Driver Training are:
  • To reduce the risk of a driving-related accident
  • To reduce the stress caused by driving
  • To reduce the potential time taken away from work due to an accident of stress-related illness
  • To reduce the potential of long term disability
  • To reduce the potential of trauma to your family or other road users
  • To reduce the potential cost of vehicle repairs

CONSULTANCY
UDS offers a full range of consultancy services some of which may seem daunting to an individual or group tasked with defining the scope or initiating a start point from which to springboard an operational road risks campaign.

UDS can use its vast experience in order to analyse and prioritise tasks and present them to a body with a complete overview of their current position and suggest ways forward for improvement.

UDS’s holistic approach looks at the root causes of your individual company’s or organisation’s risks, and devises bespoke solutions to minimise the exposure.

We offer as much or as little help and advice as you need. We can assess and build a complete programme for you, integrate it into your existing health and safety policy and manage that programme – all with minimum impact on your business. Leave it to UDS. Once agreed, we’ll work with you taking care of the time consuming and costly administration, whilst ensuring that our methods fit with your current systems and records. UDS will continually review the programme to ensure you get the maximum benefit. We recognise that the measurement of results is critical to the success of any programme, so regular review meetings will be scheduled to ensure the continuing management and measurement is exactly what you were expecting and require.

1. Driving Policy Review
UDS knows through experience that putting together a comprehensive driving policy can be time consuming and take key personnel away from other core activities. All too often companies or organisations may decide to put together a “generic” policy in order to save time and effort. This is a risky approach and can place individuals at risk.

Every Company or organisation is different and this should be reflected in the company or organisation driving policy, UDS ensures that the policy we construct for you is bespoke and relevant to your operation covering all aspects and eventualities.

UDS allow the company or organisation to continue with confidence, safe in the knowledge that the underpinning policy is sound and can easily be developed to take into account changing circumstances within the business and changes to law.

2. Fleet Review
UDS are able to liaise with Fleet Managers, Health & Safety representatives or Senior Management in order to fully audit your fleet and give a comprehensive report on all aspects of the fleet and drivers. We are able to report on system deficiencies and give recommendations for improvement and development of programmes and policies. The report will highlight all components of the current systems and enable the company/corporate body to move forward with confidence, safe in the knowledge that all aspects of fleet management have been reviewed.

3. Training Programmes
Used in conjunction with Mac GB Ltd/UDS’s driver profiler and risk assessment tools, we can easily help any corporate body develop a priority based training programme. Training programmes can also be developed without the use of a driver profiling and risk assessment tool where companies are carrying out training for the whole of the workforce. We will be only too pleased to assist your training and development plan in this area.

4. Driver Profiling and Behavioural Risk Assessment
Driver profiling and risk assessment has recently become a tool with which corporate bodies can gain many benefits. UDS can individually profile drivers in order to show attitude, potential to violate, stress indicators, alertness and aggression in order to place them in risk categories. Upon completion by all employees a report is compiled providing an overall look at the company and training recommendations.

This system then allows the company to view a prioritised training list for employees who need it urgently. This exercise can and has saved an enormous amount of money for corporate bodies. The profiling tool will provide a priority list for training. Therefore money can be directed towards training for employees most at risk while driving instead of the scatter gun approach.

5. FRSC Driver License Checks
In many companies it is quite often the practice for managers to check the licenses of employees, photocopy them and file them for reference. This practice can actually be harmful to corporate bodies if those checks are not carried out correctly or verified by the FRSC to give you a truly accurate picture at that moment.

Duplicate licenses may hide information about the driver, points on the license may have accumulated putting the company at risk and the correct license groups should be checked to ensure the employee can legally drive the type of vehicle to which they are to be allocated.
It is recommended that such checks should be carried out every year. UDS can take this administrative burden away and ensure that all licenses are correctly checked with the FRSC and the results placed on a spreadsheet for easy reference – we can also highlight any potential problems with regard to the results.

6. New Employee Screening
Recruitment costs are high, and choosing the right person for the job is critical. If driving is an important part of the job, then using UDS screening services will ensure you cover all the angles when considering your candidates. UDS screening will help you avoid an unsuitable appointment or making a commitment to a particular type of company vehicle as part of a salary package. Each element will allow you to balance candidates’ vocational skills against their driving ability. UDS’s new employee screening service offers:
• Web or paper based driver risk profiling
• Licence checks with FRSC
• Driving skills assessment
• Training needs analysis
As much or as little as you need, when you need it.

Experience has shown us that, as no two corporate bodies are the same, a prescribed suite of solutions will not suit everyone. UDS’s approach is simple, we give you a choice of elements within our screening package for you to ‘mix and match’. Our services are available throughout Nigeria, and we’re happy to fit in with your recruitment programme as and when you need us. Make sure you cover all the angles, by making UDS a regular part of your recruitment programme.

CORPORATE TRAINING
Corporate bodies demand the highest quality of training at the best value, this is where UDS exceeds expectations. Whether the training is delivered by means of a seminar or individual training our track record speaks for itself. All individual training is delivered around the ROSPA, IAM and ROADCRAFT (British Police) models – arguably some of the best systems in the world and our resource persons are selected for their depth of knowledge within the industry and the ability to convey the corporate message across to any audience.
